Lapacho products: frequently asked questions

Why are AMAZONAS bark teas so exceptional?

Our bark teas are made of wild growing trees and harvested regarding sustainable harvesting principles. We always remove only a small part of the bark to preserve the tree. That is our way to exploit the rainforest ecologically without destroying it. Our Brazilian supplier is highly motivated and experienced in the range of his bark teas. To preserve his trees is essential to him, they are his bread-and-butter. His greatest target is to deliver reliably high quality.

Is the bitter taste of bark teas normal?

The slightly bitter taste is absolutely normal. It is caused by alkaloids.

Alkaloids are natural bitter principles which are contained in numerous (healing) plants. Anyway, bitter principles are beneficial to our liver having a stimulating and purifying effect on it.

Are there bark teas available of controlled organic cultivation?

Our bark teas are made of the inner bark of wild growing trees. These trees have not been cultivated, as are, for example, fruit trees, but are part of the rainforest. They may reach an age of many centuries.
